Robert S. Taylor, Esq., chair and chief executive officer of Cameron Companies, LLC., community leader, Slippery Rock University Council of Trustees vice chair and 1978 graduate, has been named to receive Slippery Rock University's Distinguished Alumni Award for 2006. Taylor is also a member of the Slippery Rock University Foundation, Inc., the nonprofit organization charged with stewardship of the University's philanthropic resources and served on the SRU President's Advisory Council. He is chair of The Campaign for Slippery Rock University, a $33-million, 10-year fundraising effort.

His firm is a diversified holding company specializing in business and government affairs consulting, real estate investment and acquisition, legal affairs and turnaround management. In addition to his SRU degree, he graduated from Temple University School of Law and has been admitted to practice before the United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals, the United State District Court of Eastern Pennsylvania, and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

He has been a White House appointee to the Environmental Protection agency, a trustee in bankruptcy in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and a staff attorney to the Pennsylvania Worker's Compensation Appeal Board. His association with the counseling firm, founded by former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Drew Lewis, has resulted in considerable exposure to the legislative, regulatory and executive branches of state and federal government and private business management. His clients have included amount others, Fortune 500 companies, large banks, engineering firms, marine terminal operators, software companies, waste haulers, pharmaceutical forms, health-related organizations and various non-profit organizations.

Taylor has been active in Pennsylvania government, business and politics for 25 years. Reared in Bucks County, he coordinated the 1980 George Bush for President campaign in Pennsylvania, and was director of the Reagan-Bush 1984 re-election campaign in the Commonwealth. He has also managed several lower profile congressional and state campaigns. He served as treasurer of the Pennsylvania Republican Party from 1986 to 1992, and was a member of the Governor's Transition Team in 1994. He has been a fundraiser for numerous federal, state and local candidates.

Long active in the community, the SRU graduate has served on the boards of several Pennsylvania companies and charitable organizations, including Employers' Acquisition, IN.; the Pennsylvania Partnership for Economic Education, including service as vice chairman; Southern Homes Services, treasurer; Buck County NAWC Economic Adjustment Committee, chairman; Bucks County Housing Development Corp.; Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission; the Regional Learning Alliance, Inc., secretary; and the Trade Task Group, Inc.
