MUSICIANS’ CONCERT BAND, HOLIDAY CONCERT TO PERFORM AT SRU DEC. 3

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. –  Slippery Rock University will welcome the Musicians’ Concert Band and the Holiday Chorus to campus Dec. 3 for their annual holiday concert, this year using the theme “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”

The 4 p.m. concert in Miller Auditorium is under the direction of Jeff Kroner, assisted by his brother, Lew Kroner, associate conductor. LaDonna Linamen conducts the chorus. Both groups are composed of volunteers who use the musical groups as an outlet for their musical talents.

The concert will feature a number of traditional holiday selections, including Gary P. Gilroy’s “Christmas Legends,” and “Ding Dong! Merrily on High” adapted by Jay Dawson. Selections from the “Nutcracker Suite” will be presented, and “The Eighth Candle” will be offered with Lew Kroner conducting.

The Holiday Chorus and the band will offer “Holiday Favorites,” “The Christmas Song,” Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” Other band selections will be Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride,” and Claude T. Smith’s “A Rhapsody on Christmas Carols.”
