Slippery Rock University homecoming logo
receives CASE award
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock
University’s Rocktoberfest homecoming logo has received a
Bronze Accolade Award from the Council for Advancement and Support
of Education (CASE) organization. The logo placed in the Visual
Design in Print-Logos/Nameplates category in the mid-Atlantic
region encompassing six states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin
Islands.
CASE is the
nation’s largest nonprofit education association with 3,250
institutional members. It represents 47,000 people working in
alumni relations, public relations and development in all levels of
education, according to its Web site.
SRU used the logo on
promotional T-shirts, cups, posters and fliers for homecoming
’06 and the fall edition of The Rock Magazine sent to 50,000
alumni and university friends. The logo features an image of Old
Main surrounded by fall foliage.
“The Accolade Award
is to alumni and public relations what the Oscar is to
actors,” SRU’s Michael Saraka, director of alumni
relations, said.
Saraka and alumni
association President Eric Holmes, a 1993 SRU graduate, plan to
attend CASE’s awards gala at the District I and II Conference
in New York City in February to collect the University’s
award.
Kostilnik & Associates Graphics Inc. in
Pittsburgh designed the logo under the art direction of SRU’s
Sandra Busch, publications manager for university public
relations.
Slippery
Rock University is Pennsylvania’s premier public residential
