The Commission, which reports to the President, will be broadly
representative of the university community, including faculty,
students, staff, and administrators. Membership of the Commission
will consist of approximately eight members as well as a chair or
two co-chairs. Composition may include two students, three faculty,
two staff, and two administrators. Both LGBT persons and allies
will make up the Commission. All Commission members will be Safe
Zone trained and expected to attend at least two meetings per
semester. Those who are unable to meet that obligation may be
replaced. Appropriate members identified by the university
administration will be asked to serve. Some members also may be
selected from persons who have expressed an interest in the
Commission. All members will be appointed by the president for
two-year terms. Upon expiration of their terms, members may be
invited to serve a second term. The President will appoint the
Commission chair or co-chairs. Sub-committees may be formed to
explore issues and accomplish tasks of the Commission. Non-members
of the Commission may serve on sub-committees. Sub-committees will
be established as the need arises and with Commission approval.
