SRU to host 3-day ‘Opportunity Knocks’ learning experience
for high school
seniors
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – “Opportunity Knocks,” a three-day learning
experience for high school seniors to better understand life at
Slippery Rock University, will be Feb. 15-17 sponsored by the
University’s Office of Admissions.
“The three-day event will give seniors the chance to attend college
classes, talk with admission and financial aid counselors and see
some of the fun activities also associated with going to college,”
says Tamra Cooper, assistant director of admissions.
Participating seniors will be housed with current students who will
serve as their volunteer mentors as part of the experience which is
using the theme “Stepping up to The Rock of Opportunities.”
A
step show and a visit the Robert N. Aebersold Student Recreation
Center are part of the planned activities.
“We
organized this event to help minority students adjust to life at
SRU. Approximately 100 students will participate,” Cooper said.
