‘Rock Solid Success’ ad series wins national award for creativity

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University’s series of Rock Solid Success newspaper ads highlighting the job placement success of SRU graduates has received a 2006 Merit Award from Admissions Marketing Report magazine. A magazine spokesman said the ads were recognized for their creativity, quality and consumer appeal.

The six-by-four inch ads feature photographs and profiles about recent graduates and the success they’ve had as a result of their SRU education. Sandra Busch, SRU publications manager for University Public Relations, designed the ads. Gordon Ovenshine, public relations writer, and Robert McComas, sports information director, developed the copy.

SRU placed in the newspaper advertising series category for schools with 5,000 to 9,999 students. A national panel consisting of advertising directors, marketing professors and the editorial board of the magazine served as judges for the competition.

Admission Marketing Report, headquartered in Atlanta, covers the admissions marketing field and received 3,500 entries for its 22nd annual Admissions Advertising Awards competition.
