L. Smith called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m.

I.  Old Business

A.      Approval of minutes from October 31, 2006

L. Smith called a motion to approve the minutes from October 31, 2006.

First:  S. Sykora

Second:  J. Condravy

All approved, motion passed.

B.      LSPC Assessment Plan

L. Smith informed the committee that the LSPC Assessment Plan was approved by the faculty by a 47 to 13 vote and will be forwarded to the administration.

C.      Liberal Studies Five-year Program Review

L. Smith distributed the curriculum vita of three possible candidates for the external reviewer for the Five-year Program Review.  He also informed the committee that the review committee will meet Wednesday, November 15, to discuss drafts of the self-study, and decide whether to submit the three possible external reviewers to the Provost or to look for others. 

II.  New Business

A.      Modern Languages and Cultures

A request for course approval of three goal courses in the Global Community block was brought before the committee:  Arabic Language and Culture I (05:101); Arabic Language and Culture II (05:102); and Arabic Language and Culture III (05:103).

A motion was called to approve Arabic Language and Culture I, II, and III.

First:  D. Wells

Second:  J. Condravy

All approved, motion passed.
