JUMP START TRANSITION PROGRAM 

The Jump Start Transition Program has proven to be an effective tool in the recruitment of a diverse student body.  The program is designed to serve as a transition program.  The primary goal of the program is to assist with the acclimation of college life on the campus of Slippery Rock University.

This program is exceptionally helpful to new students prior to their arrival on campus.  Upper class students having experienced a similar process and series of events, issues, and concerns, will assist freshmen with multiple aspects of new college life.  Research evidences that students supported by mentoring programs such as this, adjust to college life at a higher rate than students who are not mentored.
