University Program Board books Grammy-winning rapper T.I. for April 30 concert

        

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Rap music king and multiple Grammy Award-winner T.I. has been booked by Slippery Rock University’s University Program Board an April 30 concert in the Robert N. Aebersold Student Recreation Center.

           At this year’s Grammy Awards, T.I. captured Best Rap Solo Performance honors for his single “What You Know” and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration honors for his work with Justin Timberlake on the No. 1 hit “My Love.” He also holds BET Awards, BET Hip-Hop Awards and Billboard Music Awards, among others. His latest CD is titled “King.”

           Clifford “Tip” Harris, best known as “T.I” has released four CDs, three on the Atlantic Records label. His other CDs include “Urban Legend” and “U Don’t Know Me.”

           T.I. has been seen in VIBE and GQ magazines as well as in the feature film “ATL.” He has also been featured in ads for Reebok’s S. Carter sneaker line and Sean John clothing.

           Involved in community work, T.I. donated to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort and led an on-air Labor Day pledge drive on Atlanta’s V-103 FM raising more than $263,000 for Mississippi rapper David Banner’s Heal the Hood Foundation. He also partnered in a two-day food and clothing drive at Atlanta’s Club Vision.

           Tickets for the stand-up-only concert are $20 for SRU students with ID; $30 for the general public and are available at the University Union Welcome Desk or by phone at 724-738-2104.

           Recreation Center doors open at 6:30 p.m. The opening act is at 7:30 p.m.
