Joshua Young is a 2004 graduate of Slippery Rock with a B.A. in Political Science. While at Slippery Rock, Joshua was a student leader. He served many roles including Student Trustee, SGA Senator and Speaker of the Senate.

Since leaving SRU, Mr. Young has become a leader in Chester County business and politics. Joshua currently works for Young's Garage, Inc., which his grandparents started in 1960. He is currently the third generation working for the company. In 2005 Mr. Young joined the political world by running for Township Commissioner in Caln Township, Chester County.

On January 3rd, 2006 Joshua Young was sworn in as the youngest Commissioner in Caln Township history. Commissioner Young is currently the youngest elected official in Chester County. Commissioner Young has helped revolutionize government in Caln. His idea to switch to digital-based record storage and computer-based correspondences have saved taxpayers thousands of dollars. He has also fought the construction of a new township building and has provided the leadership to rehabilitate the current location saving millions of taxpayers dollars. In 2007 Commissioner Young helped facilitate Caln Township's acquisition of Ingleside Golf Course. This purchase preserved 177 acres and provides a new recreational activity to Caln Township.

In his role as Commissioner, Mr. Young serves as Chair of the Finance Committee, Chair of the Parks and Recreation Committee, Chair of the King's Highway Park Master Plan Committee, member of the Golf Course Advisory  Board, member of the Caln Community Day Committee, and member of the Coatesville Christmas Parade Committee.

In his role as Slippery Rock Trustee, Mr. Young hopes to, "Continue the high quality of education principles and leadership preparation for current and future students that have guided me so well."

Mr. Young continues to be a leader and advocate for higher education and Slippery Rock University. Commissioner Young's term as Trustee ends January 2013.
