U.S. Army posts video shot at Slippery Rock University

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The U.S. Army has posted a recruitment video on its Web site that was shot in part at Slippery Rock University and features a former SRU student talking about his life as an Army Reservist, student and civilian.

The Army interviewed Scott Peterson and his mother, Lisa (Peterson) Hicks, of Grove City for its “We Want You” campaign providing information to parents of prospective Army Reserve recruits.  Peterson attended SRU until he joined the Army in 2006.

“I thought it was excellent,” Hicks said. “Scott’s at Ft. Benning parachuting out of Army C-130 airplanes. He was able to view it and thought it was cool.”

The video shows Peterson scaling the climbing wall at the University’s Robert N. Aebersold Student Recreation Center, looking for books in Bailey Library and eating with friends at Rocky’s Grille. More than 20 SRU students were used for a classroom scene in Advanced Technology and Science Hall.
“For most of the year, I’m a civilian but then I put my uniform on to be a soldier,” said Peterson in the three-part video. The Army recently promoted him to sergeant.

The Army hired Los-Angeles based director Peter Kagan, who also taped at Peterson’s home and the Army Reserve Unit in Butler.
