SRU grad joins University of Hawaii-Hilo as vice chancellor
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Debra Fitzsimons, who earned a master of science in administration in public administration from Slippery Rock University in 1991, was named to the post of vice chancellor for administrative affairs at the University of Hawaii-Hilo, effective Aug 1.
Prior to joining UH-H, Fitzsimons served since 2005 as vice president of administrative affairs and chief business officer for the Southwestern Community College District in San Diego, Calif., where she oversaw an $85 million operating budget, $14 million in special revenue funds and $56 million in local bond funding.
Fitzsimons earned a bachelor of arts from Pennsylvania State in 1988 and her doctorate in education administrative policy studies from the University of Pittsburgh in 1994.
