Health Care: Single- Payer Care Lecture & Discussion HlthCare
Allan Larsen
Joseph Talarico, DO is an anesthesiologist with UPMC and an Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh. He will talk and take questions on Single-Payer health care, also known as 'Enhanced, Expanded Medicare for All.' This program promises to save a lot of money, 350 billion the first year and more as the program becomes established and will provide quality health care for everyone. The U.S. spends twice as much as the average in other industrial nations and yet has over 45 million Americans with no health insurance. All the other industrial nations have universal health care. The insurance companies are doing their all to stop this program . We all need to be better informed about the real options for health care. The existing system is extremely wasteful and does not deliver the quality that all Americans deserve.

Opera Orientation: Eugene Onegin OpOrnEOnegn
G. Warren Smith

It is a romantic tragedy of desperate lost love in three acts inspired by a poem of Alexander Pushkin. The irreconcilable relationship between the nobleman Eugene Onegin and the soulful country girl Tatiana imitate the social mores of Czarist Russia about 1815. The music, as with most of Tchaikovsky's work, is incredibly soaring, emotional and full of longing.

Opera Orientation: Falstaff OpOrnFals
G. Warren Smith
In preparation for attending Verdi's last opera, \"Falstaff\", or if you are simply curious about this opera, join us for this brief orientation. Based on Shakespeare's \"Merry Wives of Windsor\", the fat, jovial, unprincipled and endearing knight, Sir John Falstaff, led the aging Verdi to create one of opera's most brilliant comedies. The title character is running out of money and looking for a quick fix. So he sets his sights on two rich women and writes them love letters. But he doesn't fool anyone, and ultimately the \"fat Knight\" learns his lesson. \"Falstaff\" reveals something in Verdi that even his best friends would never have expected - he had a sense of humor.
