SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Maureen McGovern, the Dec. 1 artist in Slippery Rock University’s Performing Arts Series, has a career spanning nearly 35 years, including recordings, concerts, Broadway, theater, films, television, radio and composing.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University dance majors Lindsay Armstrong of Corry, Amie Davis of Carrolltown and Patricia Robinson of East Aurora, N.Y., will share their summer experience of studying classical Indian dance in Chennai, India, at a lecture/demonstration Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The wealth of diversity found in the Hispanic culture will be highlighted during Slippery Rock University’s sixth annual Hispanic Month and Día de la Raza celebrations running Oct. 4-23. Guest lectures by Colombian television journalist Manuel Teodoro and author Susan Chavez-Silverman from Pomona College highlight the celebration.

» Abbass Alkhafaji, professor in SRU's School of Business, dies
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Abbass Alkhafaji, an award-winning Slippery Rock University School of Business professor who maintained dual U.S. and Iraqi citizenship, died Thursday night at The Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore. He was 59. His wife and six children survive him.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Ramona Nelson, Slippery Rock University professor of nursing, has been named a fellow in the Academy of Nursing Education by the National League for Nursing. In selecting Nelson, the 115-year-old professional association cited her “sustained and significant contribution to nursing education.”
