Capt. Stafford promoted to assistant chief of University Police

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Capt. Windy Stafford, a 2000 Slippery Rock University graduate 1-year veteran of University Police, will be sworn in 11 a.m. Thursday as assistant chief of the department. SRU President Robert Smith and Constance Foley, vice president for student life, will facilitate the oath of office and badge presentation.

The public ceremony will be at SRU’s Veterans Memorial in front of the Russell Wright Alumni House. In the event of rain, it will move to Old Main.

“I am excited and thankful, and I look forward to fulfilling the duties that have been entrusted to me,” Stafford said.

Stafford joined the police department as an officer in 1997 and was later promoted to lieutenant, then captain. The assistant chief’s position includes additional budgeting and administrative duties.
