SRU Alumni Association, bank collaborate for homecoming

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock branch of First National Bank of Pennsylvania  and the Slippery Rock University Alumni Association are partnering to make SRU’s Oct. 13 homecoming more memorable. The bank signed on to sponsor and expand the alumni association’s tailgating tent.

“The bank’s generous donation will allow us to provide even more activities, food and service to our alumni,” said Michael Saraka, alumni relations director.

“First National Bank is pleased to be a contributor and supporter of Slippery Rock University and its alumni,” said Rhoan Hernandez, vice president, real estate services manager for First National Bank.

Homecoming activities, under the theme of “Rockopoly,” kick off Oct. 12 with the Fall Classic Golf Scramble at Olde Stonewall Golf Course in Ellwood City. That evening at 6 p.m., the University will host a pep rally and present the homecoming court at Old Thompson Field. A bonfire, percussion concert and fireworks follow at 8 p.m.

Oct. 13 homecoming events begin with a parade down Main Street at 10 a.m. The alumni tent, sponsored by First National Bank, opens at noon and features live music by “Making Trax, with SRU’s own William McKinney, dean of the College of Humanities, Fine and Performing Arts, on drums. A variety of academic and special interest tailgates take place from noon to 2 p.m. SRU takes on Clarion at 2 p.m. at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium Field.
