Faculty percussionist finds beat for Modern Drummer Magazine

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – David Glover, a music faculty member who teaches percussion at Slippery Rock University, has written an article about college drumming that will be published in the January issue of Modern Drummer Magazine.

“The magazine is the most read periodical for drummers and percussionists in the world. I am very proud of the article and having a chance to be in a magazine that I have been subscribing to since I was in middle school,” said Glover, a drummer since age 10.

“College Drumming: From Finding Schools to Passing the Audition” examines how prospective college students evaluate percussion programs, narrow their choice of schools, apply for admission and prepare for auditions. The article is part of an education-themed issue hitting newsstands in November.

“This is the first article that I have had published and I’m excited about it,” he said.

Glover teaches and performs in a wide range of musical styles, including jazz, classical, rock and Afro-Caribbean.  He teaches “Applied Lessons,” “Percussion Ensemble,” “Music Technology,” “Jazz Band” and “Steel Band” at SRU and gives lessons out of a home studio as well.

He received music degrees from the University of North Florida, The Florida State University and the University of Texas at Austin.
