SRU special education graduate earns leadership position 

 

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Frank Cloud, a 1976 Slippery Rock University graduate, has been named director of special education for the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV. The unit provides services to more than 1,300 school children with special needs in Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties.

            Cloud, of Butler, heads a staff of 423 teachers, therapists, supervisors and school psychologists in 29 school districts. Unit IV implements technology in the classroom and sponsors professional development programs benefiting special education students and teachers.

            Cloud received degrees in special education and English education from SRU. He taught multiple-handicapped and life-skills support classes for the Intermediate Unit before the organization named him a program supervisor in 1990. He was appointed acting director of special education in July.
