SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University’s George Brown, associate professor of political science, on sabbatical from the University and teaching in China, reports he was unharmed by the 7.9 magnitude earthquake that devastated a large region of China Monday. Brown and his wife are in Nanjing.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Six Slippery Rock University athletic training majors have received $2,000 scholarships from the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Research and Education Foundation – the most ever awarded by the association to students from one institution.  SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.  – One thing couples don’t want to worry about on their big day is the reception. Staff at Slippery Rock University are trained to “deal with the details” and are sponsoring a “Wedding Showcase” Feb. 28 from 4-8 p.m. to show off their skills and promote the University as a wedding site. The showcase, according to organizers, will also help connect couples with local photographers, bakers, florists and those selling dresses, bridesmaid gowns and tuxedos.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Shari Mazek, a senior at Slippery Rock University, has been named a Miss Co-Ed by the online magazine Co-Ed after she placed first and second in national modeling contests. The magazine posted several competition photographs of Mazek, an elementary and special education major from Pittsburgh.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Army ROTC cadet Zachary Foster, an environmental science major from Volant, has earned the Air Assault Badge from the U.S. Army’s Sabalauski Air Assault School at Ft. Campbell, Ky.
