Slippery Rock University hosts SmokeStopper program

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Community Health Challenge of Southwestern Pennsylvania and the Butler County Tobacco Free Coalition will offer a free, eight-part series of SmokeStoppers at Slippery Rock University beginning Feb. 6.

The eight-session program, designed by SmokeStoppers Inc., will be at 6:30 p.m. in the University Union. Additional sessions will be Feb 11, 12, 13, 14, 18, 20 and 25.

“The program is designed to help people who want to stop using tobacco.  As a group, participants in SmokeStoppers will help one another gain the strength and reinforcement they need to quit,” said Renee Bateman, health promotion coordinator at the University.

Community Health Challenge is registered with the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s pre-approved list of cessation programs.  For more information about the program, call Bateman at 724.738.4206, or Community Health Challenge at 724.283.9955.
