Emily Hendrickson receives ‘2008 Outstanding Senior Woman' honor

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. –  Emily Hendrickson, mathematics major with minors in philosophy and art history, has been named the Slippery Rock University Alumni Association’s “2008 Senior Woman of the Year.”

Hendrickson was nominated by Richard Marchand, associate professor of mathematics, who wrote, “Emily is extremely deserving of the Outstanding Senior Woman Award. She has selflessly and tirelessly represented SRU in many different arenas and raised the profile of our institution in many ways.”
Hendrickson, who has a 3.95 grade-point average, holds a part-time job, has been a mathematics tutor through the SRU Tutorial Center, and was a peer mentor for the SRU Honors Program and a note-taker for the Office of
Students with Disabilities. She has been recognized for her mathematics research in Kappa Mu Epsilon and the Mathematical Association of America and also participated in an international mathematics competition.

Her name will be included on a special plaque displayed in the Russell Wright Alumni House.
