Seven Army ROTC cadets trained at SRU take commission oath       

 

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Six Slippery Rock University Army ROTC cadets and one cadet from Grove City College were commissioned Saturday as second lieutenants in commissioning ceremony in the University’s Advanced Technology and Science Hall and as part of commencement ceremonies.

            Lt. Col. William Bialozor, head of SRU’s award-winning Army-ROTC program, presided at the ceremonies.

           The Army-ROTC program provides cadet training to students at SRU and Grove City College.     Sworn in  were:

  • Kenneth Brubaker, a professional studies major from Lewistown, who joins the medical service corps and will serve on a forward surgical team based in Erie.
  • Amanda Herman, a safety and environmental management major from New Columbia, who reports to Fort Bliss, Texas for air defense artillery training.
  • Ty Kegarise, a criminology/criminal justice major with a minor in leadership from New Castle, who joins the military police at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
  • Micah Linderman, a business management major with a minor in leadership from Winchester, Va., who will train in active duty armor at Fort Knox, Ky., before being deployed to Grafenwoehr, Germany.
  • Patrick Passewitz, a history and political science major from Austintown, Ohio, who begins active duty in the ordnance corps at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., before being assigned to Germany.
  • Mark Rudolph, a professional studies major from Punxsutawney, who begins field artillery training at Fort Sill, Okla., and
  •  Jonathan Turner, an entrepreneurship major at Grove City College, who begins active duty in the transportation corps at Fort Eustice, Va., with a follow-on assignment in Germany.
