SRU hosts seminar on selling to the federal government

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University's Government Contracting Assistance Center will host a free General Services Administration Federal Supply Schedules seminar from 9 a.m. to noon May 21 at the Holiday Inn in Beaver Falls.

Helena Koch, small business specialist with the U.S. General Services Administration, will provide information on doing business with GSA, including identifying appropriate schedules, basics of preparing and submitting proposals and marketing to the U.S. government.

The federal GSA contracts for billions of dollars worth of products and services each year.

GSA contracts fall under three major categories: general-purpose supplies, equipment and services; building construction, repair and maintenance; and information technology and network services.

Through GSA's Federal Supply Schedules businesses have the opportunity to sell products and services to many federal agencies. The schedules cover a wide variety of products ranging from office supplies, computer systems and furniture to cleaning equipment and supplies. Services purchased include information technology, graphic design, landscaping, engineering and those that are environment-related.

For more information contact Renee Decker, government contract specialist in SRU’s Center for Economic and Community Development, at 724.738.2346 or access:  http://academics.sru.edu/cbiss/gcac/links.htm.
