» Ham radio operators offer public demonstration at Old Stone House
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Local ham radio operators from the Butler County Amateur Radio Public Service Group will use only emergency power supplies to construct emergency radio stations then demonstrate amateur radio for the public at Slippery Rock University’s Old Stone House June 28-29.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Thom Cobb, Slippery Rock University associate professor of dance, has been named the 2008 Outstanding Dance Educator for Post-Secondary Education by the Maryland-based National Dance Education Organization. The non-profit organization with 2,000 members recognized Cobb for his highly inventive and energetic teaching style and safe and invigorating classroom atmosphere.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Those tuning into a recent national edition of  PBS’ The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer may have caught Slippery Rock University sustainable systems graduates Jeff Jaeger, Greg Boulos and Joe Jenkins in the  story detailing how Grow Pittsburgh Braddock’s Urban Farm Project is becoming an eco-showcase for green technologies and jobs.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Brian McCandless, a Slippery Rock University junior who has had cystic fibrosis all his life, embarks Thursday on a 30-day bicycle ride to Maine and back – his second annual “Brian’s Ride” to raise awareness of the illnesses.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University’s Council of Trustees today approved a student proposal calling for establishment of a Green Fund to support environmental initiatives on campus and in the community.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University track and field head coach John Papa recently hit a grand slam with Coach of the Year awards as he received two honors each from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
