Slippery Rock University, an NCAA Division II institution, located in picturesque western Pennsylvania, seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Sports Information Director.  This 12 month professional/administrative position offers a starting salary of $41, 837 and excellent benefits package. 

 

REPORTS TO:  Sports Information Director and Executive Director of University Public Relations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred. A minimum of three years of collegiate or professional sports information experience, at least two of which should be in a full-time capacity, is required. Strong written and verbal communication skills, game-day media management experience, and the ability to multi-task required. Proven experience in desktop publishing on both Macintosh and Windows operating systems, proficiency with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, and experience with Automated Scorebook and StatCrew required.  Sound knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations as they pertain to athletic communications, a valid driver’s license and successful performance in an on-campus interview are also required.  A background in Web site maintenance (preferably ICS) and familiarity with digital photography is preferred. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the planning and implementation of a proactive and comprehensive intercollegiate athletics communications program for sports to which he/she is assigned. Duties will include the coordination of all aspects of publicity and communications; managing, training and supervision of graduate assistant(s) and student workers; and managing game-day staff in the areas of statistics, audio- and video casting and on-site media coordination. Successful candidate will be expected to produce editorial content for and design media guides and game programs related to assigned sports, develop news releases and maintain the official athletic website (www.rockathletics.com). 

 

SCHEDULE:  This is an exempt position and, as such, the work schedule will vary based on the number of hours needed to meet the job responsibilities. The successful candidate will need to be available early morning, evenings and weekends as well as normal business hours in order to meet the needs of the position. Occasional travel to designated away events, as media liaison, is expected.
