» SRU invites would-be detectives to murder mystery dinner theatre
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – “Mobsters, Molls and Marinara,” a murder-mystery dinner theatre set in 1920 Chicago, will be presented by members of Mystery’s Most Wanted from noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 16 in the Russell Wright Alumni House and Conference Center at Slippery Rock University. Participants will use clues to solve the crime committed.

» Jazz, tap, hip-hop concerts keep SRU dance students on their toes
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – A dozen jazz and tap dances choreographed by Slippery Rock University dance students and faculty will highlight the dance department’s second annual Jazz Dance/Tap Ensemble Concert Nov.8.

» SRU pianist brings 'Carnival' flavor to campus Nov. 16
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Nanette Kaplan Solomon, Slippery Rock University professor of music, will present a “Carnival” of solo piano works at 4 p.m. Nov. 16. The free concert will feature 19th- and 20th-century works inspired by carnivals, masked balls and other colorful events.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. ­– The Storm Harbor Equestrian Center at Slippery Rock University has become the only university-based equestrian center in Pennsylvania to receive a premier center accreditation from the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. –The Four Freshmen, the legendary vocal harmony group that transcends bobby socks, rock-n-roll, disco or any other genre of the past 60 years, will bring the sweet sounds of “Graduation Day,” “It’s a Blue World” and several holiday classics to Slippery Rock University for a Dec. 6 performance in Miller Auditorium.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Fourteen Slippery Rock University vocal students will be in the spotlight Nov. 2 all vying for the Chad Williamson Memorial Scholarship as part of the 16th annual competition. The 7:30 p.m. competition will be in Swope Music Hall.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. –Some might see it as spooky when Slippery Rock University alumni assemble to present a new play by David Skeele, SRU theater professor. Titled “The Margins: A Play of Supernatural Horror,” the play is being revived after summer premieres in Edinburgh, Scotland, and on the SRU campus.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University will mark its third Native American Celebration Day Nov. 6 with a series of events, including participants from the Pittsburgh-based Council of Three Rivers American Indian Center, traditional American Indian dancers, singers and a storyteller.

» SRU students plan cardboard village in campuswide social initiative
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. ­– Slippery Rock University students will convert the Bailey Library quad into a cardboard village and spend the night in their “houses” to raise awareness of homelessness. The Nov. 19-20 event corresponds with National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week and the launch of “SRU: Part of the Solution,” a major new initiative that puts the spotlight on a social cause of the month.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – A $250,000 renovation of the Harmony House at Slippery Rock University is under way. The center for sustainability education and research will receive a classroom, upstairs offices, geothermal heating/cooling and a covered-porch entrance designed to buffer wind and increase energy efficiency, among other improvements.
