Jazz, tap, hip-hop concerts keep SRU dance ensemble on their toes

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – A dozen jazz and tap dances choreographed by Slippery Rock University dance students and faculty will highlight the dance department’s second annual Jazz Dance/Tap Ensemble Concert Nov.8.

Dancers will offer 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. performances in Swope Music Hall. Tickets are $3 for students; $5 general admission. Tickets will be on sale in the Morrow Field House lobby from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Nov. 4-5, and at the door. Last year’s program sold out in two hours.

SRU’s Jazz Dance/Tap Ensemble, a campus dance company featuring jazz and tap as well as hip-hop, is organizing the performances.

In addition to the 11 dances choreographed by SRU dance majors which have undergone adjudication focused on choreography, techniques and performance, the concerts will also include an original tap dance prepared by Ursula Payne, associate professor of dance.

For more information, call the dance department at Ext. 2036.
