Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) |
Goal
SRU provides a safe and caring learning environment for all members of the campus community.
Mission
The mission of the BIT is to provide a venue for addressing students who exhibit behaviors of concern; particularly those who demonstrate the potential for violence toward self or others. Specifically, the policies address activities that are disruptive to the mission of the University, as well as any suicidal or self injurious threats or behaviors. The BIT has been charged with upholding these policies and maintaining a healthy environment for the entire SRU community.

The SRU Behavioral Intervention Team is based upon the October 10, 2007 PASSHE publication a “Conceptual Model for Addressing Students at Risk for Violent Behavior”, prepared for the PASSHE Ad Hoc Advisory Committee on Campus Security Readiness and training materials from the National Center for Higher Education Risk Management.
