Trip to Baltimore

    The Frederick Douglass Floor is taking a trip to Baltimore the weekend of April 17th! Frederick Douglass lived in Baltimore for several years, and the group will be visiting historic sites related to Frederick Douglass, as well as seeing the highlights of the city of Baltimore. The group will go to the National Aquarium, the Industry Museum, an art museum, visit Fort McHenry, go on the inner harbor cruise for sightseeing, and then go on the Frederick Douglass Walking Tour.

Heinz History Museum:

    “Free at last: Slavery in Pittsburgh in the 18th and 19th centuries”

    The centerpiece of “Free at Last” are the documents of slavery-related transactions the History Center is permitting Pitt to display. The exhibition conceptualizes these documents in telling the story from the importation of nine million Africans to the Americas in the Atlantic slave trade, slavery, the Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh slaves, the Pittsburgh slave holders, the Pittsburgh abolitionists, some slave narratives on film, the laws, the geography, the organizations, to the ending of slavery with the Civil War and the XIII, XIV, and XV amendments to the US Constitution.

    Transportation will be provided

    Go to Museum, eat dinner in the Strip District, Go to Drumline Live, Go back to SRU.
