SRU plans ‘Piano Extravaganza’

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University music department will host a “Piano Extravaganza” at 4 p.m. April 26.

            The concert, coordinated by Nanette Kaplan Solomon, professor of music, will be in Swope Music Hall.

           The program will include works by Beethoven, Dvorak, Brahms, Ravel, Rachmaninoff, Amy Beach and a four-hand piano arrangement of Prokofieff's beloved "Peter and the Wolf" complete with narration.

            Music therapy majors are Michelle Bonaventura from Pittsburgh, Katy Capestrani and Angela Junker, both from Butler, Cayla Catino from Riegelsville, Allison Crumling from York, Caitlin Lowry from Emlenton, Vern Miller from Slippery Rock, Ai Nakatsuka, an international student from Japan, and Samantha St. Ives from New Castle.

            Music education majors performing will be Catherine Brown and Thomas Walters, both from Butler, Kathryn Hall from New Castle, Eric Kochanowski from Sarver and Emily Lawther from Mars,  Shana Wilson, a business management and music major from Pittsburgh and Douglas Finley, a music performance major from Allison Park, will also perform.

           Admission is $3 for the general public and free for students

    Piano students from the Music Department will present

 "PIANO

EXTRAVAGANZA", a recital of piano duets on Sunday, April 26 at 4 PM in Swope

Recital Hall.  Admission is $3 for the general public and free for students

and children.  The event is being coordinated by Dr. Nanette Kaplan Solomon,
