SRU graduate heads Quaker Valley School’s athletic program

Michael J. Mastroianni, a 1988 Slippery Rock University sport management master’s degree recipient, has been named director of athletics and student activities at the Quaker Valley School District in Coraopolis.

A Quaker Valley graduate, he had been serving as assistant athletic director for Carnegie Mellon University since 1986. At CM he oversaw intramurals, club sports, aquatics, health and fitness, and physical education classes.

Mastroianni coached Quaker Valley's boys' basketball for the past two years after re-joining the athletic staff in 2007. He had previously served from 1995-2003 as Quaker Valley's coach, according to a recent Pittsburgh Post-Gazette story.

He earned his bachelor's degree in business management at SRU in 1983.
