Each on-campus student housing facility is equipped with a fire safety system installed by Simplex Grinnell. Each facility is installed with smoke detectors, sprinkler systems and fire monitor panels that directly communicate to the University Police Department and Environmental Health and Safety Department. Anyone discovering a fire or other safety concerns should contact the University Police Department immediately at extension 3333.

Slippery Rock University Safety Officers and Residence Life Staff conduct two fire drills during each semester at each on-campus student housing facility to ensure the system is functioning properly and to educate students and staff how to safely evacuate  a facility in case of a fire or other emergency.

Environmental Health and Safety Officers administer Fire and Life Safety Training, Fire Safety Inspections and emergency Evacuation Drills on an annual basis. Fire an Safety training is also available upon request to all on-campus departments.

Slippery Rock University Residence Life Department posts policies and rules titled Residence Hall Living Guide on their web page.
