Initially a diploma graduate from Grant Hospital School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Thurkettle holds a MS in Nursing from Ohio State University and a BSN & PhD from Case Western Reserve University. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Zeta Mu At Large and Epsilon Phi chapters. She is currently the Governance Committee Chair of Epsilon Phi chapter.
Her research interest is health behavior change. Her two recent studies examined: barriers and facilitators to adolescent physical activity; the relationship between cognitive maturity and readiness to use research evidence in clinical decision-making.
