The SRU/SGA Preschool and Child Care Center is a nationally accredited, state-licensed, non-profit center which is owned by the Student Government Association, Inc. of Slippery Rock University. We are licensed by the Dept. of Public Welfare and the Department of Education as well as accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

The Center provides a rich variety of learning experiences which promote the physical, social, and intellectual development of each child. A daily preschool program is provided for all children in attendance during the morning hours. This program gives the children the opportunity to develop the following skill areas: motor, cognitive, self-help, sensory/perception, art and music. The curriculum also includes activities designed to promote literacy and computer confidence. The curriculum is implemented by both certified and pre-service teachers.

The hours of operation are 7:30 am through 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The Center is open year-round, including University breaks. We are closed for major holidays.

Services are available to children ages three through twelve of university students, faculty, staff and members of the community. Special summer programs for both preschool and school-age children are offered. During the school year, before and after school care is available. Slippery Rock School District provides bus service to and from the elementary building.

New enrollments are taken on a first come, first served basis as openings become available. We do keep a waiting list for those who apply in advance. We recommend that you put your name on the waiting list as early as possible so that we are more likely to help you.
