SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Chikezie, Trenyce Cobbins, Mikalah Gordon and R.J. Helton will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12 in Miller Auditorium when Slippery Rock University Performing Arts Series presents “Former ‘American Idol’ Stars for the Holidays.”

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Valena Beety, the staff attorney with the Mississippi Innocence Project, a professor at the University of Mississippi and a former assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, will present “Stopping Dating Violence: Strategies on Campus and in Courts” at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

Authors tackle 'Girl Bullying' in new book
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – It’s not new, but it is growing: Girls bully. To combat the nationwide problem confronting school officials, parents and teens themselves, two Slippery Rock University faculty and two Duquesne University faculty have combined their research in “Understanding Girl Bullying – and What to Do About It; Strategies to Help Heal the Divide,” a comprehensive guide that spotlights the issue and offers solutions.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – “Light Up Night,” an annual holiday collaboration between Slippery Rock University and the Slippery Rock community, will use Miracles on Main Street” as its theme this year. SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Joanne Leight, associate professor of physical education and a double Slippery Rock University graduate, has been named “Teacher of the Year” for the college/university division of the Pennsylvania State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. The award will be presented Nov. 20 at a Valley Forge Convention Center luncheon.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University will offer an Adapted Physical Activity Awareness Day Nov. 11 to advocate the importance of including those with disabilities in adapted physical activity sessions in educational and community-based settings. The free program, from noon to 8 p.m., will include information booths, student-led activity demonstrations, a T-shirt giveaway, lunch on the Quad, wheelchair sports and more.
