The explosion of e-commerce is revolutionizing the computer, media and business fields, and creating jobs for technology literate graduates. Slippery Rock University offers 5 specializations in information systems alone, plus majors in computer science and information technology. Journalism students hone their craft by working on the award-winning campus newspaper, The Rocket. The School of Business offers programs in economics, accounting, finance, management, and marketing.  The Department of Political Science offers majors in political science and coordinates pre-law students. Social science programs in our new criminal justice, criminology, and social work programs prepare students for graduate study or employment in criminology and social services. The college also houses the Military Science department, The Rock's nationally recognized ROTC program.

In addition to the School of Business, the college is comprised of six departments: Communication, Computer Science, Political Science, Professional Studies, Social Work, Criminology, and Criminal Justice, and Military Science. Nearly 75 full-time faculty provide instruction to students in specific undergraduate programs. The faculty is recognized for its intellectual leadership, scholarship and dedication to teaching. Consistent with the mission of the university, our primary emphasis lies with our commitment to students. A unique component of the college is the Government Contracting Assistance Center (GCAC). The center was established for the purpose of aiding local businesses and industries to compete successfully for federal and state contracts. To that end, hundreds of new contracts totaling in the millions are awarded to area businesses through the efforts of this office.
