Students majoring
in the College of Business, Information, and Social Sciences must
maintain at least an overall 2.00 grade point average (4.00 scale)
for all coursework taken at the University, along with at least a
2.00 for courses taken in their major and minor fields of study
(note: some majors or minors may be higher). Students
must complete 120 credits to graduate. Individual departments may
have additional requirements. Please see department websites for
more details.
In addition,
students pursuing a degree in business administration must satisfy
a series of requirements called the “common
core.” This series includes courses in accounting,
statistics, economics, finance, law, management and
marketing. The common core is designed to make sure all
business majors have a broad background in general business.
A 2.00 grade point average is required for all courses taken to
satisfy the common core. Internship credits may be earned in
each degree program.
As with all
Slippery Rock undergraduates, individuals majoring in the College
of Business, Information, and Social Sciences are required to
complete a number of courses in the Liberal Studies Program. These
course requirements lie outside the student's major field of study,
and are designed to encourage the development of intellectual
insights and skills that will enable the enjoyment of a lifetime of
learning.
