- Dr. Valerie Swarts will attend New York State Communication Association Conference in Kerhonkoson, NY on October, 19 2007 - October, 21 2007.
- Dr. Brett Barnett will attend the New York State Communication Association Conference to present two papers titled, "Judging the Web of Hate: Are Internet 'Hate Sites' Deserving of First Amendment Protection?" and "Hate Group Community-Building Online: A Case Study in the Visual Content of Internet Hate Sites"
- Dr. Thomas Flynn will be attending the National Communication Association Convention on November 13, 2007.
- On April 3, Thomas Foley will be speaking during Common Hour in room 111, Spotts World Culture Building. He will be a guest speaker of the Communication Week. He is the owner/operator of Foley & Associates and will discuss how Communication was essential in his success.
Computer Science
- Dr. Hongbo Zhou attended a PACISE board meeting in Milesburgh, PA.
- Dr. David Dailey will attend the French National Institute for Research. He will be collaborating on a project at Rice University on September, 27 2007.

- Mrs. Patricia Joseph will attend the Information Systems Education Conference in Pittsburgh on November, 2 2007. She will be presenting two co-authored papers and one self authored paper.

- Ms. Patricia Joseph will be going to Madrid, Spain on June, 26 2008 to participate in two working groups before and at ITiCSE 2008: The 13th annual conference on Innovation & Technology in Computer Science Education.

- Ms. Lori Zulauf attended "Degree Coherence" workshop held at the McKeever Learning Center in Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania on October 26, 2007.
Political Science
- Professor George Brown will attend an executive board meeting of the Association of Regional Centers of Asian Studies Development Program, a national association. He is an elected member of the executive board. He will leave for Phoenix, Arizona on October, 17 2007 and will be returning October, 21 2007.
- Professor George Brown will be attending the Japan Studies Association Annual Conference in Honolulu, Hawaii to present a paper. The paper is entitled "The Construction of Nationalism and Sino-Japanese Relations".
- Dr. Donald Kerchis will attend the 25th annual Association of Third World Studies Conference being held in Lima, PERU from November, 18 2007 to November, 20 2007. The paper is entitled "The Rise, Fall and Resurrection of Alan Garcia: A Two Decade Retrospective of Peruvian Politics, Economics, and Social Progress."
- Dr. Walter Powell attended The Unitied States Air Force Conference at the Air Force Museum in Fairborn, Ohio on September, 21 2007
- SRU's Holocauset Remembrance Program is at 4 p.m. November 1, 2007 featuring Richard Korb, a professor of German at Columbia University, who will lecture about "Remembering Forgotten Victims: Thoughts on Exhibit: 'Nazi Persecution of Homosexuals 1933-1945.'" The free lecture is in the Advanced Technology and Science Hall Auditorium. For further information contact Dr. Richard Martin.
- Political Science Department and The Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance presented "Iron Jawed Angels," movie about the 19th amendment to the US Constitution and women's suffrage on October 23, 2007 at 8am in Spotts World culture Auditorium.
- Dr. Heather Frederick will be traveling to Harrisburg to present a paper at the PA POLS Association Conference from March 27-29. The paper is entitled, "The Voter Empowerment Solution."
- Dr. Sharon Sykora will be traveling to Harrisburg to present a paper at the PA POLS Association Conference from March 27-29. The paper is entitled, "A Workable Alternative to the Current Presidential Primary Selection Process: The Pennsylvania Primary Plan."
School of Business
- John Buttermore will be heading to Greenville, PA with his Marketing Seminar class. He will be surveying residents of St. Paul Homes for a service learning project.
- Dr. Bruce Orvis will be traveling to Italy with his Marketing Seminar class from February, 4 2008 to February, 14 2008.
- An article written by Professor Diane Galbraith will appear in the September issue of Public Safety.
- Dr. Abbas Noorbakhsh's article entitled "Globalization and its Challenges and Opportunities in Malaysia and Singapore: A Two-week Curriculum Project Taught in an Introductory Undergraduate Course in International Business" will appear in the fall volume of East-West Connections: Review of Asian Studies.
- Dr. Donald Mong will attend North Association of Business, Economics, and Technology Conference to present a paper, "Entrepreneurship: Business's Liberal Art" on October, 24 2007.
- Dr. David Culp will attend the International Atlantic Economic Conference and present a paper titled "The Regional Economic Impact of a Not-for Profit Assisted Living Center" on October, 6 2007
- Dr. Anna Lusher attended the West Virginia Accounting Educators Conference at Charleston, West Virginia on September, 27 2007. She is the president of the organization, and will be presiding over the two-day event.
- Dr. Theresa Wajda will attend Prestigious National Conference to present a paper titled "Culture, Social Comparisons, and REsponses to Advertising."
- Dr. Olumide Ijose will be presenting a paper at the Academy of International Business South East USA Conference. The paper provides a theoretical discourse of practices in the America and Japanese automobile industry between 1970 and 2000 within the context of external forces and organizational factors that shape corporate culture that can also affect choice.
- Dr. Bruce Orvis attended PACIE workshop on Risk Management in Study Abroad. The workshop was held on October 8, 2007 at SRU.
- Mr. John Buttermore will be traveling to State College on October 25, 2007 to present a paper and serving as a session moderator at Northeastern Association of Business, Economics and Technology Annual Meeting.
- Dr. Olumide Ijose will attend the Northeastern Association of Business, Economics and Technology Annual Conference on October 26, 2007 to present a paper titled "Is there a relationship between corruption and job creations in resource rich oil and gas developing countries?
- Mr. John Golden will attend Syposium on Sustainable Business at Duquesne University on Novemeber 15, 2007.
- Dr. Albena Iossifova will be attending the Pennsylvania Economic Association 2008 Conference on June 5, 2008.
- Pittsburgh Business Times Top 100 Speaker Series, Zaura Deklewa, owner and president of Bridgeville-based Allegheny Construction Group. She is set to speak on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at ATS lecture hall.
Social Work, Criminology, and Criminal Justice
- Dr. Herman Jones will attend The Second Inter-Disciplinary/Intercultural Conference on HIV/AIDS at Stellenbosh University in Capetown, South Africa on July 28 - August 13, 2007.
- Dr. Youngyol Yim will attend the annual American Society of Criminology Conference in Atlanta, GA on November, 15 2007 to present a paper on the topic of Domestic Violence in Korean Communities.
- Dr. Jatherine Hardesty and Dr. David Champion of SRU, and also Janice Champion had "Jail Nurses: Perceptions, Stigmatization, and Working Styles in Correctional Health Care" published in Journal of Correctional Health Care.
- Dr. Yim Youngyol's article titled "Police and Their Perceive Image: How Community Influences Officers' Job" will be published in Police Practice & Research and International Journal. The Article will appear in the first issue in 2009.

- Dr. Amy Walters and her Spring 2008 Communication Age class will be going to London from March, 3 2008 to March, 15 2008 to participate in Seminar Programs.
Computer Science
- Kevin Klein and Patricia Joseph will be presenting their paper to the Information Systems Education Conference in Pittsburgh on November, 2 2007. Their paper is titled "Information Technology Disaster Planning: Lessons Learned from Katrina"
- Christie Willison and Patricia Joseph will be presenting their paper to the Information Systems Education Conference in Pittsburgh on November, 2 2007. Their paper is titled "Teaching Students How to Evaluate Sources in Online Research"
- The Computer Technology Club in partnership with the SRU Gamers Guild Presented Erik Wynters, Ph. D. (Professor of Computer Science and Mathematics at Bloomsburg University). Dr. Wynerters presented his professional game work.
- Dr. Michael Conlon will be taking two teams of students to the ACM Regional Computers Programming Competition. The competition will be in Youngstown, OH on November 9, 2007.
- Dr. Sam Thangiah and undergraduate students Kevin Sobczak and Alex Kline presented two papers titled "Heuristics for routing school buses in rural districts" and "The pickup and delivery problem with time windows using geometric clustering and genetic algorithms" at the International Conference of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science in Puerto Rico.
- Ms. Patricia Joseph and Stephanie Kasenter presented their peer-reviewed posters at the 2007 Grace Hopper Celebration of Computing Conference in Orlando, Florida.
Military Science
- LTC William Bialozor will attend the Army 10 Miler Competition in Alexandria, VA on October, 5 2007.
- MAJ James Leise will attend the 2007 Brigade Ranger Challenge in FT Indiantown Gap, PA on October, 10 2007.
- ROTC Challenge team earns regional completion honors. The team captured seconds place in its tier and third place overall in the annual 2nd Brigade Eastern Region Ranger Challenge.
Political Science
- Students from Dr. Kerchis' Politics of Developing Areas class will travel to San Jose, Costa Rica over Spring Break.

- Dr. Heather Frederick and 12 of her students will be traveling to Baltimore on November 16, 2007 to participate in Amnesty International Mid Atlantic Conference.
- Dr. George Brown will be taking students to the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh event on China in Pittsburgh on November 14, 2007.
- Slippery Rock University grabbed two of the five rankings in the Allegheny College and The New York Times Presidential Primary Reform Conference. more

- Ryan Holmgren attended the National Convention of Alpha Kappa Psi in Washington, DC on August, 1 2007.
- Brian Plowman, wins $1,000 Financial Executive International Scholarship awaarded by Pittsburgh Chapter of FEI. more
- Dr. Bruce Orvis took 3 students (Cameron Jurysta, Joshua Halliday, and Dana McKain) to Foxburg Inn (ARCA) to discuss marketing plan for ARCA.
Social Work, Criminology, and Criminal Justice
