SRU TO SPOTLIGHT CLASSICAL
MUSIC OF INDIA IN OCT. 23 SITAR CONCERT
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Purbayan Chatterjee, widely
recognized in India as an accomplished sitar player, will offer the
classical music of India at an 8 p.m. Oct. 23 concert in Slippery
Rock University’s Swope Recital Hall.
The
free concert, open to those age 10 and older, is sponsored by the
university in cooperation with the Center for the Performing Arts
of India at the University of Pittsburgh, and the Indian Council
for Cultural Relations in India.
Chatterjee
will be accompanied by Abhijit Banerjee on tabla.
