STUDENTS
Admission to a graduate program does
not include financial support. Information about Financial
assistance available to graduate students may be obtained by
contacting the Financial Aid Office at Clarion University
(814-393-2315). Contact the nursing departments and graduate
offices at each university for Graduate Assistantship and
scholarship information.
GRADUATE
ASSISTANTSHIPS
Clarion
University
Each year a limited number of
Graduate Assistantships are awarded to individuals with regular
full admission status to a graduate program. Graduate
Assistants work 10 or 20 hours a week in assignments related to
academic programs or university-wide service. They are paid
an hourly stipend and receive a tuition waiver for up to 15 credits
a semester. There are no summer assistantships.
Recipients of a Graduate
Assistantship must take at least 6 credits a semester, perform
assigned duties in a satisfactory manner, and remain in good
academic standing.
Students wishing to apply for a
Graduate Assistantship should contact the College of Graduate
Studies or their individual departments.
Graduate Assistants (GA) who work 10
hours per week for a maximum of 150 hours per semester receive a
50% tuition waiver and GAs who work 20 hours per week for a maximum
of 300 hours per semester receive a 100% tuition waiver.
Edinboro
University
A number of Graduate Assistantships
are available each year. Eligibility for an Assistantship
includes acceptance into a graduate program, enrollment for
full-time study and acceptance by the director of the office
assigned.
Full-time Graduate Assistantships
include a remission of course tuition, a stipend and twenty hours
of work per week. Half-time Graduate Assistantships include a
remission of one-half of course tuition, a stipend and ten hours of
work per week.
Assistantships in residential life
also include a waiver of charges for a private room in the
residence hall and a telephone. A limited number of prorated
Assistantships are available for the summer. Applications can
be obtained from the Office of Graduate Studies or
ONLINE.
Slippery Rock
University
Graduate Assistantships are
available and include a stipend and waiver of tuition.
Unconditional admission to graduate studies is a prerequisite for
assistantship eligibility. Assistantships may be awarded for
up to two academic years, with recipients working 17 1/2 hours per
week and scheduling at least nine semester hours of graduate credit
per semester.
Positions are granted to full-time
students who demonstrate potential for significant contribution to
their selected field or discipline. The assistantships are
regarded as an honor to those who receive them, and persons
selected should reflect credit to the department or office and to
Slippery Rock University. Application forms may be obtained
through graduate studies and research and are to be submitted to
the departmental chairperson in the field where the prospective
graduate student intends to major or to the administrative head of
the unit in which a position is sought. See the Slippery Rock
