Preceptors are selected according to the following criteria:

• Clinical preceptors for the program are licensed physicians, certified nurse practitioners, and certified nurse midwives.
• The philosophy of the preceptor is consistent with the philosophy of the nurse practitioner program.
• Interpersonal relationships established with the preceptor are mutually respectful and support the concept of the family nurse practitioner.
• The preceptor provides desirable learning activities for students in relation to course objectives. 
• The preceptor provides services for desired client populations.
