Students in clinical settings are expected to:

  • Take responsibility for their learning needs and discuss with the preceptor ways of meeting them.
  • Be on time for clinical experiences, be appropriately dressed and wear a name badge that identifies them as nurse practitioner students.
  • Respect the confidential nature of information regarding patients and medical records.
  • Bring to the attention of the preceptor any concerns or difficulties encountered as they receive clinical experiences.
  • Act ethically and honestly and respect the dignity of patients and their primary relationship with the care provider who is acting as preceptor.
