FREDONIA NAMED ‘OUTSTANDING FUTURE
PROFESSIONAL’ BY STATEWIDE HEALTH, PHYSICAL EDUCATION, RECREATION AND
DANCE ORGANIZATION
SLIPPERY
ROCK, Pa. – Crystal Lynn Drew, a senior health and physical
education major at Slippery Rock University from Fredonia, has been
named recipient of the Pennsylvania State Association for Health,
Physical Education, Recreation and Dance “Outstanding Future
Professional Award.”
The
award was presented in Lancaster as part of the PSAHPERD annual
convention. Its criteria includes two-year membership in the
organization along with academic achievement, a minimum grade-point
average of 3.0, participation in student professional
organizations, professional service and potential as well as
contributions to the department, college and university, and
service to the community.
Drew
is minoring in adapted physical activity and rehabilitation. She
has been active in Phi Epsilon Kappa, a club for those majoring in
health and physical education, and has been active in the SRU
Adapted Physical Activity Council and the Physical Education
Teacher Education Club. She is a member of the management team for
the Special Olympics Western Fall Section and has coordinated an
inclusive after-school adapted aquatics program for children with
and without disabilities. Drew also volunteers as a co-activities
director and counselor at Deep Valley Christian Camp in Slippery
Rock.
