Ramona Nelson, PhD, BC-RN, FAAN, ANEF is Professor of Nursing at Slippery Rock University. In addition, she is co-director of the health care informatics program at Slippery Rock University.

Dr. Nelson holds a baccalaureate degree in nursing from Duquesne University and a master's degree in both nursing and information science, as well as a PhD in education from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a member of and is actively involved in the informatics work of the American Medical Informatics Association, American Nurses Association and the National League for Nursing. Dr. Nelson is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing Education.

Ramona's professional goals include:
(1) creating quality learning experiences for RNs who are interested
in earning a BSN.
(2) ensuring health care providers and consumers are prepared to gain
the full benefits that automation and computers can offer.
(3) exploring the opportunities offered by distance education technologies.

Her areas of research include consumer informatics and distance education
