Purpose:To promote knowledge and intellectual development
of each member in the field of community health.
Slippery Rock University was the first institution of higher
education to develop a student chapter! The chapter was begun in
January 1996.
This is a recognized professional public health organization, which
provides students with an opportunity to become affiliated with a
professional organization. Students are eligible to attend the PPHA
annual state meeting at reduced rates, to receive the PPHA
newsletter and to participate in many activities at the state
level. The campus chapter provides students with opportunities to
learn more about professional opportunities in community health
through speakers, service projects and field trips. Dr. Wendy Stuhldreher is the
faculty advisor.
The PPHA Collegiate Chapter meets during Common Hour 3-4 times per
semester. Programs include service, speakers and social
gatherings.
Dues for our collegiate chapter are $10 annually. This money
is used to subsidize trips to the state conference, Public Health
Awareness Day, our annual banquet, and other expenses for our
organization activities.
Get involved now! Free PPHA (State)
membership!
To encourage student
involvement in the state organization, PPHA membership is free to
all enrolled students. This free membership extends into the
first year after graduation to mentor new alumni, give them
opportunities for employment, and network with professionals in a
wide variety of public health settings.
