SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Slippery Rock University swimming coach
Bob Ogoreuc recorded his 100th
career victory on Saturday when his women's team defeated visiting
Fairmont State College (W. Va.) 97-72 in the Morrow Field House
pool.
Ogoreuc now owns a 100-53-1 career record in 13 seasons as The Rock
men's and women's head coach. He has a 57-29-1 record as women's
coach and a 43-24 record as men's coach.
His 2001-02 women's team finished the dual-meet season with an
unblemished 7-0 record, the first ever recorded by a Rock swimming
team. The Rock women are 4-0 this winter and have won 14
consecutive dual meets. Ogoreuc's men's team is 1-3 this winter
after compiling a 5-1 mark in 2001-02.
Ogoreuc is a graduate of both Indiana High School and Indiana
University of Pa. (Bachelor of Science in Health & Physical
Education, 1989). He also owns a Master of Science degree in
Athletic Administration and Physical Education from Slippery Rock
(1992).
At IUP, Ogoreuc earned four letters and was a four-time
All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference selection. He swam on
four school record-setting relay teams and was the 1988-89 team
captain.
Ogoreuc also attained All-America status at the master's level in
1990-91 and was an Indiana County Sports Hall of Fame honoree in
1997.
In high school, Ogoreuc earned all-state honors and was named as
the District 6 Outstanding Swimmer in 1984. He won four district
championships and was a five-time YMCA All-America selection during
his high school career.
In addition to his coaching duties, Ogoreuc is an assistant
professor of physical education and the aquatic facilities director
at SRU.
