MILLERSVILLE, Pa. -- Slippery Rock University junior Brad Cieleski captured the 149-pound
weight class championship Saturday evening at the 60th Annual
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Wrestling Championships at
Millersville University.
As a team, The Rock finished fifth with 83.5 points. Edinboro won
the team title with 134.5 points, followed by Lock Haven (127.5),
Bloomsburg (98.5) and Clarion (97.5). East Stroudsburg finished
sixth with 67.5 points, while Millersville had 45, Shippensburg
31.5 and Kutztown 29.5.
Brad Cieleski's championship was the 35th claimed by a Rock
wrestler since 1970. He is the 27th SRU individual to claim a PSAC
weight-class title and the first since his older brother, Doug Cieleski, won the 165-pound title
in 2001.
Brad Cieleski now owns a 19-7 record this winter.
Rock senior 125-pounder Adam
Renner and senior 184-pounder John Opfar garnered PSAC runner-up honors,
while sophomore 157-pounder Jason
Cardillo and junior heavyweight Bob McKillop each finished third.
Sophomore 165-pounder Jason
Smith placed sixth to round out The Rock
placewinners.
The Rock wrestlers will host Gannon at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in
Morrow Field House.
