A. INTERNAL
DISSEMINATION
- The University will continue
to make its equal employment opportunity policy known internally by
including it in the following documents:
- social equity
brochure
- University employee
application forms
- student
handbook
- posters for office bulletin
boards
- affirmative action
plan
- social equity
plan.
The policy is
as follows:
Slippery Rock University is committed to taking affirmative action
to attain equal education and employment rights for all persons
without regard to gender, race, color, national and ethnic origin,
disability or other legally protected class. The University
complies with all requirements of the Americans with Disabilities
Act, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and other statutes and
regulations as promulgated by the federal government in the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Slippery Rock
University complies with Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964,
Title IX of the Educational Amendment of 1972 and the Pennsylvania
Human Relations Act.
- To familiarize the University
community and its various constituencies with the affirmative
action and equal employment opportunity policy:
- A social equity brochure and
related policies will be distributed to new employees
at orientation
meetings.
- A notice of the University's
commitment to equal opportunity will be posted
on University
bulletin boards.
- Periodic discussions will be
held and training provided on equal
employment
opportunity/affirmative action matters for managers, supervisors,
department chairpersons, search committees, union representatives
and all persons who have a direct impact on personnel decisions.
Direction for affirmative action compliance is provided to faculty
search committees in search procedure
guidelines.
- Procedures for affirmative
action in recruitment and employment will be reviewed with
hiring supervisors and/or other appropriate individuals. Compliance
forms must be completed prior to the beginning of a search:
- for faculty positions, by the
department chairperson, the dean, the provost and the social equity
director, and
- for non-faculty
administrative positions, by the appropriate vice president or
designee.

will be sent to various offices/locations.
- publications developed and
circulated by the University will reflect the diversity of the
educational community

EXTERNAL DISSEMINATION
The University's commitment to affirmative action and equal
employment is emphasized in dealing with recruitment sources and
outside vendors doing business with the
University.

Information regarding the university's equal
opportunity/affirmative action policy will be provided to outside
vendors through the contracts office. The equal opportunity clause
will be incorporated into all purchase orders and
contracts.

following statement appears in all advertisements: "Slippery Rock
University of Pennsylvania is a member of the State System of
Higher Education and is an affirmative action/equal opportunity
employer building a diverse academic community and encourages
minorities, women, veterans and persons with disabilities to
apply."
