The president
of Slippery Rock University has the overall responsibility for
implementing the university's affirmative action/equal opportunity
policy. The president has assigned coordination of responsibilities
to implement the policy to the director of social equity who has
the full support of executive management to do the
following:

Develop
policy statements, affirmative action programs and internal and
external communication regarding equal opportunity and affirmative
action.

Develop
and conduct training programs to provide managers and supervisors
with relevant equal opportunity information to assist them in their
compliance efforts.

Design
and implement auditing and reporting systems that
will:
- measure the effectiveness of
University programs
- indicate need for remedial
action and
- determine the degree to which
the university's goals and objectives have been
achieved.

Serve as
a liaison between the University and enforcement
agencies.

Serve as
a liaison between the University and minority organizations,
women's organizations and community groups.

Share the
following responsibilities (among others) with deans, vice
presidents, directors and department managers:
- Identify problem areas and
establish division and department goals and
objectives.
- Require supervisors to take
actions to prevent harassment, discrimination or a hostile
work environment.
- Inform supervisors and
managers that their work performance is being
evaluated, in part, on the basis of their equal opportunity efforts
and results.

Conduct investigations and make recommendations
concerning any allegations of harassment or
discrimination.
