The
University complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act of
1990 and attempts to ensure equal employment opportunity for all
qualified persons with disabilities. No person will be refused the
opportunity to apply for employment solely because of a disability;
nor will such application receive unfavorable consideration solely
because of a disability. Furthermore, the University is committed
to making reasonable accommodations for the physical and/or mental
limitations of applicants and employees with disabilities who are
otherwise able to perform the essential functions of the
job.
As part
of the on-going facilities strategic planning program, the
University has taken, and will continue to take, steps to ensure
that the campus workplace is accessible to applicants and employees
with disabilities. Sensitivity to the special
needs of persons with disabilities, along with good faith effort in
providing accommodations, will ensure that individuals with
disabilities are provided an equal opportunity to compete and
qualify for employment.
Employees
who wish to request an accommodation may obtain an accommodation
request form from the Office of Social Equity. Immediate
supervisors may be involved in discussions regarding the provision
of appropriate accommodations. In most cases,
medical documentation of the disability and the need for
accommodation will be required. An employee with
a disability who disagrees with the accommodations provided may
file an ADA accommodation appeal request with the Office of Social
Equity.
